My passion for helping others led me to dedicate two years as a volunteer with the North Mississippi VISTA–or Volunteer in Service to America–project at the University of Mississippi. The theme of VISTA is to eliminate poverty through education. Our goal is to build educational programs that benefit children and adults in Mississippi. After VISTA, I began graduate studies at the NYU Wagner School of Public Service.

At the conclusion of my VISTA service in the UM School of Engineering, I was accepted to the University of Denver’s Master of Arts program in International Studies where I will continue my education and build upon the amazing experiences that I had during my year of VISTA service.

Upon completing my VISTA term, I headed home to Columbia, Missouri to start my new position as an International Admissions Manager at Columbia College. My year as a VISTA has given me experiences that have not only helped me grow professionally, but also have given me the chance to define who I am and what kind of impact I want to have on the world. Thanks to AmeriCorps and the North MS VISTA Project for giving me such a great opportunity!
